Mock Newbery LIVE on Zoom: Registration now open for this free event on January 22
Registration is now open for Heavy Medal’s Live Mock Newbery Discussion and Balloting, which takes place on Friday, January 22nd, from 1:00 – 2:30 pm (EST).
We’ll continue our discussions of the 15 titles on the Heavy Medal Book List through January 14th. On January 15th or 16th we’ll announce the 5 Finalists, selected by the Heavy Medal Award Committee (HMAC). During the Zoom discussion, HMAC members will discuss those 5 titles, following the practice of the real Newbery Committee, and finishing with a live ballot to determine which book earns the Mock Newbery Medal.
Besides watching the live discussion, you can also participate by taking part in our live Viewer’s Poll, sharing your opinion about which book is the most distinguished of the year. You can also submit questions and comments during the discussion. HMAC members will respond during or after the book discussion portion.
