Help us finalize our Heavy Medal Book List
With nearly 70 titles on our Heavy Medal nominations list, we need to narrow it down to 12-15 for our final book list. Please fill out our poll by Saturday December 11 at 5:00 to help us determine which titles we should discuss.
- These results will remain confidential and Steven and Emily will use them to guide our decisions. E-mail addresses are required simply to ensure people only vote once.
- The categories are very general and definitely not perfect. They help organize the choices and make sure our list is balanced. This doesn’t mean we will only choose one (or any) titles in that category.
- If you have any additional reflections on the final list, thoughts of books that may compliment each other well, or books you nominated that you are reconsidering- leave them in the comments.
- Feel free to share the poll with anyone who is interested in joining the Heavy Medal Award Committee or participating in discussions. Just remember to fill it out by Saturday, December 11 at 5 p.m.
A call for Heavy Medal Award Committee members comes out tomorrow and we’ll announce our list next Monday. We cannot wait to see the final titles and our committee members.

Of the seven titles I nominated, one I’m thinking about is WE ARE STILL HERE. While an excellent title, I don’t think it quite compares to the other nominated titles, especially THE PEOPLE REMEMBER.

Steven, Emily-
Did you really mean to have Finding Junie Kim on 2 lists? It is on both Realistic Fiction and Historical Fiction. I didn’t see any other duplicates.
Emily Mroczek-Bayci says
oops, fixed it thanks kate
Dawn says
Emily,
You have While I Was Away listed as historical fiction, but it’s a memoir.
