August Suggestion Totals:
In our second-to-last suggestion pool, we received 65 suggestions for a total of62 books with 13 new titles. THE TENTH MISTAKE OF HANK HOOPERMAN again received an overwhelming amount of love, but did not surpass FERRIS for the lead quite yet.
After being underwhelmed by books this year, I am determined to read EVERYTHING and find a slew of amazing titles to rave about for next suggestion period. Which will open August 26, before we jump into another season of Heavy Medal.

Owen Ridings says
With the last submissions period opening in late August, is there any process to include books published in September, October, or November in the final discussions?
Emily Mroczek says
Great question Owen. We will explain everything in our introduction posts once September hits but here’s the short version: we move to nominating books in October where like the actual Newbery Committee we nominate 3 books in Oct, 2 in Nov, 2 in Dec and build a new shorter list. The actual committee keeps suggesting and nominating but we found that gets too messy on the internet. Titles do not need to be suggested to be nominated! Hope this helps, keep the questions coming!
