Heavy Medal Mock Newbery 2025: FINAL NOMINATION LIST and an important poll!
We’ve made it to December and eleven months of reading- Heavy Medal readers nominated 57 titles. And now it’s up to Steven and I to narrow it down to 15 (or less) for our final book list. HELP US PLEASE!! Fill out this survey by Wednesday Dec. 11 to help us narrow down our final selections. We use the survey to help guide our conversation where we create a balance, well-rounded, “perfect,” final book list.
Here is the list of final nominations and some interesting statistics:
- THE TENTH MISTAKE OF HANK HOOPERMAN led the way our entire three-month nomination period.
- We ended with 57 total nominations, which is significantly narrowed down from 83 total suggestions (and now we need to narrow it down even MORE!)
- A whopping SIXTEEN titles received five or more nominations (and silly Steven ideally would have a final list of twelve)
- Eleven titles received first-time nominations this month, with three of those titles receiving multiple nominations (MALLORY IN FULL COLOR, INVISIBLE ISABEL, BASIL & DAHLIA)

In the Illustrated survey category, the radio button for LUNAR NEW YEAR LOVE STORY didn’t work and would have gotten my vote.
