THE FINAL FIVE: Heavy Medal Mock Newbery 2024 Contenders
In a vote that for once required no re-ballots, we have a top five booklist. I was impressed with the varying genres and formats: historical fiction, realistic fiction, narrative nonfiction, graphic memoir, and easy reader/ picture book/ whatever it is.
These are the five titles the Heavy Medal Award Committee we will discuss in our live Zoom conversation on Friday, January 19 at 1 p.m. EST. There’s still time to sign up, and you’re welcome to attend even If you haven’t read all the books. We’ll have a HMAC ballot and a viewers poll. And anyone can vote in our readers poll, which is live now.

Nice slate! I ended up buying copies of six of the finalists for my collection, and it happened to be these five and Mexikid.
